properly kept.
A well-made piece of jewellery does not degrade. It ages. The distinction matters.
Time, made visible.
Ageing is the natural accumulation of wear — the gentle patina of a gold band, the softening of a high polish into something warmer. This is not damage. It is time made visible, and we consider it part of the piece's character.
Damage is something else. And when it occurs, we want to know.
A little habit goes a long way.
- Daily wearRemove your pieces before swimming, bathing and exercise. Chlorine and salt water are the primary enemies of gold alloys, and perspiration over time can dull certain finishes.
- StorageStore pieces individually, ideally in their pouch or box. Diamonds will scratch other stones and metals — and even gold will scratch gold.
- CleaningA soft cloth handles most daily care. For a deeper clean, warm water with a little mild soap and a soft brush around the settings. Rinse, and dry completely before storing.
- What to bring to usLoose stones, bent prongs, a clasp that no longer closes cleanly — any structural concern at all. Do not keep wearing a piece you suspect is damaged; small issues become expensive ones.
The piece should outlast the occasion it was made for.
